Abron Kelly Sings Her Thank You

WILMINGTON -- It's always nice to get a thank you, and a Wilmington girl sang hers in song.

A little nervous -- and a lot happy -- Abron Kelly entertained the audience with pianist Tim Buie at Rossi's Restaurant Thursday evening.

Abron Kelly, 11, had a kidney transplant six weeks ago. She was originally going to receive a new kidney from her mother Debra Kelly, but that operation did not work out.

Last month, the family received a surprised call, telling them a match was found, and a kidney was available to save her life. The Kelly family was overjoyed.

"I look at her and I know that miracles happen," said Debra, "and this is a miracle."

Abron Kelly looks forward to returning to school. Soon she'll be a fifth grader at Murrayville Elementary.

"I haven't been with other kids my age and I would just love to do that," said Abron.

She still has to undergo another operation before she can go back to school, but Abron Kelly is grateful.

"It's just a big thank you to the community and to the people who have prayed for me," said Abron, "just a big thank you."

My 3 attempt's at the Guinness World record were all done for charity. The first was to help raise money for The Tsunami disaster. The second was for The March of Dimes... and the third one was for the American Red Cross....
